About Genuine Pictures
Genuine Pictures' partners established the company in 1997. Company president Donna Leon had co-founded her first production company five years earlier after having spent more than a decade as a broadcast journalist.
From the beginning, Genuine's focus has been the production of high quality, relevant television programs in genres that are of particular interest to the company principals. The majority of our program ideas are developed in-house, though we do work with like-minded companies on co-productions. We also happen to have a passion for storytelling.
Genuine Pictures employs a core group of production personnel and freelance crew members, and prides itself on building solid relationships with each of them. We've also been known to train emerging professionals. Most of our programs are shot on location throughout Canada and abroad. Company president Donna Leon has a soft spot for productions set on Canada's east coast, where she grew up.
Genuine Pictures is a boutique operation with its own in-house cameras and sound equipment, as well as post-production suites (Avid).
We're also a fun bunch that works hard, yet likes to laugh. Television and film production doesn't need to be a chore. We make sure it isn't.
